Who We Are

Welcome to CWC East Valley!

We are a free, public charter elementary school with a purposefully diverse student body. We are located in the heart of the East Valley and we serve students across LA. We opened our doors in 2021, and are currently serving grades TK-2. We provide a holistic education, filled with joy, project-based learning, rigorous academics, the arts, and more. Our program is particularly strong in developing students’ social emotional development across lines of difference, preparing our students to emerge as a new generation of leaders – as trailblazers who are ready to tackle the future challenges in our world.

Citizens of the World Los Angeles

CWC East Valley is part of a network of charter schools across Los Angeles operated by Citizens of the World Los Angeles (CWC LA), a nonprofit organization governed by a local Board of Directors. The mission of CWC LA is to create an intimate network of high-achieving, community-based public schools for a diverse community of students, developing their abilities, confidence, and sense of responsibility for themselves and their community as true citizens of the world. All CWC LA schools benefit from being part of this network of aligned educators.

Hye-Won Gehring,
CWC East Valley Principal

Welcome students and families!

On behalf of our entire team, I want to extend a heartfelt welcome to Citizens of the World East Valley. At CWC East Valley, our work is to help each child develop a true lifelong passion for learning. We embrace the diversity of a student’s skills and learning styles and our team works collaboratively to get to know each child and uncover the unique gifts and growth opportunities he or she possesses. Through this discovery, our team can best challenge, support and encourage each child’s learning and growth and prepare students to live and participate in a democratic society.
We invite you to explore our site and learn more about our learning model and community.

Warm regard,
Principal Hye-Won Gehring
