Mission, History & Values

Citizens of the World Charter Schools are diverse-by-design with a strong academic record. Our school communities are invested in helping students develop a lifelong passion for learning, fostering social emotional development, and meeting students where they are.

Mission

The mission of Citizens of the World East Valley is to create an intimate network of high-achieving, community-based public schools for a diverse community of students, developing their abilities, confidence, and sense of responsibility for themselves and their community as true citizens of the world.

At Citizens of the World Charter School East Valley (CWC East Valley), we challenge students to develop their full potential and thrive in a diverse society. CWC East Valley develops sophisticated thinkers who master content and have a courageous and compassionate sense of responsibility for themselves and all people.

At our charter school we provide holistic education, filled with joy for students. All students engage in project-based learning, the arts, sports and rigorous instruction, that helps our schools rank at the top of all schools in LA. Our program is particularly strong in developing students’ social emotional development across lines of difference, preparing our students to emerge as a new generation of leaders – as trailblazers who are ready to tackle the future challenges in our world.

CWC East Valley is part of a network of high-performing schools across Los Angeles operated by Citizens of the World LA (CWC LA). All of our schools are tuition-free, non-religious public schools committed to socio-economic, cultural and racial diversity.

We are so proud that so many backgrounds and cultures make up our vibrant CWC LA network. Even in challenging times, we encourage everyone to model the values we want to see and hope to make every member of this community feel safe, connected, and supported.
